Love is in the Air

These cards are from the Energy Oracle deck. I decided to pull a card this morning to see what energy surrounded me today. Two happened to fall out as I was shuffling, and I feel this is a message directly for me, but for others as well.

There is love in the air. I do feel it is at my (and your) doorstep, quite literally. Abundance is upon you. You just need to walk through that door. In fact, you've had the key all along. The second card depicts Attachment. That can come so easily when you fall for someone. But, in fact, attachment leads to suffering. It causes jealousy, anger, negativity, insecurity, etc.

So, I feel the message from both of these cards states that you need to simply be and enjoy what is. Try not to become or remain attached to a person or a thing. Because they can easily be taken away and then you'd be left with suffering. If you allow the love to surround you, if you can allow yourself to just enjoy your time together and not expect anything else, the magic will just happen. The love will simply remain.

Summer is Here and I'm Excited!!

I love this time of year. Actually, I love most of the seasons . . . I am not a fan of Winter. I liked it as a kid, but as I get older I love the warmer weather more. And the Summer Solstice was just upon us marking a new season, and this season is all about abundance, warmth, and joy. And I am so excited for it!

I expect to be busy this season at work. And I feel like no one should ever expect anything because it will only set themselves up for disappointment. But, I don't feel that will be the case for me this season. I just feel a "busyness" is upon me and it will produce great things for me. Do you feel that for you? If not, try aligning yourself with that type of vibration. Start telling yourself enough so that you will believe it that you will be gloriously busy and produce magnificent things for yourself. If you do it enough, it will work.

One of the reasons I feel this busyness is upon me is because I have recently hired a wonderful woman, ReSheeda. She is a Certified Holistic Practitioner, Certified Usui Master Reiki Practitioner and Teacher, Certified Shamballa Reiki Practitioner, Certified Kundalini Reiki Practitioner, Health Educator and Body Cleanse Specialist. Resheeda has been practicing in the Health & Wellness field since 2007. In 2007 she started running body cleansing programs all over the greater Boston area in athletic centers, daycare centers, churches, women groups, chiropractor offices, and more.  Around 2010, she started conducting lifestyle nutrition and weight loss classes.  In 2012 she was accepted an apprentice position at the Herbal Academy of New England, where she studied  herbs, and other holistic practices under Marlene Adelman, and Barbara Dimasi. From that great experience she went onto study Body Talk Access and Kinesiology to get a greater understanding of how to a person find balance with the mind, body and spirit. Not too long after she went onto get certified in Usui Reiki, Shamballa Reiki, and Kundalini Reiki, followed by becoming a Holistic Health Practitioner.

Resheeda will be bringing her knowledge of Nutrition and combining it with a holistic approach to help each individual with their personal health goals.  She will teach body cleanses programs, Holistic lifestyle nutrition classes. As well as offer a unique Reiki services and Muscle Testing technique that will help with the body getting back into balance.

And I cannot wait for next month to start! Aren't you excited, too?

Get a Massage to Boost Your Lymphatic System

The lymphatic system of the body is part of the circulatory system, comprising a network of lymphatic vessels that carry a clear fluid called lymph directionally towards the heart.  Fluids travel through your lymph nodes where they will then filter through the body, and eventually be eliminated (the amount of fluids and waste that wasn't needed).

People who come down sick, whether it's from a cold, flu, infection, or worse, something along the lines of cancer, experience a poor lymphatic system. If your lymph nodes feel swollen to you, it usually indicates that your body is fighting off something. If you want your body to fight strongly and achieve victory then it is important to take care of yourself.

One of the best ways to keep your lymph and immune system in tact is through Lymph massage, also known in variations as Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) or Lymph Drainage Therapy (LDT). It is a gentle, relaxing form of massage that helps the body's lymphatic system get moving again while reinforcing immune function.  According to the Lymph Massage article, "with lymph massage, the system gets a wake-up call through delicate means. Lymph massage is extremely gentle and slow, not just as an aspect of its healing nature, but by necessity. 'Most of the lymphatic vessels are just below the skin and are stimulated by .5 to 8 ounces of pressure per square inch,' French says. That light, slow pressure mimics the pulse and rhythm of the lymphatic system itself and gets the vessels to respond as they should. Each stroke slightly moves the skin in the direction of the lymphatic flow to encourage the drainage of fluid and waste.

The delicate nature of each stroke as it carefully glides across the skin can sometimes make it feel as if nothing is happening, especially for those who are used to deep bodywork. But it's exactly that noninvasive quality of lymph massage that makes it work. "The results can be profound," French says.

Depending what your complaints are, the focus of a lymph massage for general immune stimulation is typically on the upper body, including the face, neck, and arms. The massage always has fluid moving toward a healthy lymph node, and while most therapists don't work directly on the breast, they do address the tissue surrounding the breast.

If your primary complaint is swelling, scar tissue, or inflammation, therapy should focus on the part of the body where that occurs. For anyone wanting to address issues of musculature, as well as lymph, French recommends 20-30 minutes of deep tissue massage, followed by 20-30 minutes of lymph massage.

After your lymph massage, it's important to drink plenty of water as things get moving again. French says it's possible you could feel some mild, flu-like symptoms, depending on how toxic your body is (i.e., what environmental pollutants you've been exposed to, what sort of diet you've been following, what types of medications you're taking, and how much sugar or alcohol you consume). While most people come out of a typical lymph massage feeling nothing but relaxed, French says if you do feel a little off-kilter afterward, the best solution is to 'drink plenty of water, watch your salt intake, and get up and move.' Movement, she says, creates a greater lymphatic response and will hurry the process along."

If you'd like to read more of that article, please just click that link up above. Lymphatic Drainage Massage is a wonderfully relaxing technique. And thankfully, I am certified in it. So, if you or someone you know would like to experience it and its affects, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Wanderlust is in Full Effect

Wanderlust is defined as a very strong yearning or impulse to travel; to be someplace else. And it is exactly what I've been going through for the past month. I have been reliving those moments I spent in Hawaii back in 2012. And ever since then I have been itching to go back there; preferably to live, but I suppose I will visit the other islands first.

I ordered these candles (they smell so good!) and coconut syrup (tastes amazing! Better than maple syrup, in my opinion!) from ABC Stores in Hawaii. I am desperate and destined to go back there!

Wanting to be someplace else is an indication that you're not happy with where you are at this point in your life. It could be on a physical/location level, it could be mental, emotional, and ever spiritual. I feel like most spiritual mentors and gurus would say that this is not exactly a good thing, because if you're not happy where you're at now what makes you think you'll be happy elsewhere? I disagree with this way of thinking. Sometimes people outgrow certain locations, ideas, people, situations, feelings, beliefs, etc. And this is all a part of your spiritual journey. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.

In order for us to grow and learn new things, we must explore. We must tire of the old so that we can experience the new. This isn't a bad thing at all. It just means we're ready to move on. And isn't it healthy to be able to let go sometimes? So, don't feel bad, or don't let anyone make you feel bad about wanting to be someplace you're not. It's in your spiritual nature to explore and to change. And quite frankly, change is inevitable anyways. Just be your wandering self and allow yourself to live a little.

Are You a Part of my Facebook Community?

Are You a Part of my Facebook Community? If you are not, how come?

I will admit, Facebook is the platform where I "do the most work" and reach the most people. A massage therapist by nature, I cannot physically massage anyone through the computer or phone screen, but I can advertise and keep you up to date and informed! And I love reaching out to the community; I love talking to people. I also, very much, love helping people. It's why I do what I do.

If you'd like to stay up to date with myself and my business then please log in and "Like" my business page: The Sacred Self. And just so you can be sure you are receiving everything I am sending, take a look at this photo:

If those spots aren't checked then you won't be able to see the information I post. I'm not sure why Facebook limits the News Feed and changes things all of the time. It's unfortunate, I think. But by doing that simple task, it will help a great deal. Thank you!!

How Do You Relieve a Headache?

I ask people that question a decent amount of the time. And I am intrigued by their answers. Some take over the counter medication such as Tylenol, Aleve, or Ibuprofen. (Which, I'm not really knocking, because if my headaches get bad enough I'll take 2 Aleve). Others take actual prescription medication, and there are some who just don't do anything at all. They will lie down and hope that it will pass, or hope that a good nights' sleep will cure it. All of these aren't all that bad, but it pains me to hear that almost no one says they relieve their headaches by way of massage therapy.

Massage has been around for thousands, yes thousands, of years! It is one of the oldest "tricks in the book," but yet most people prefer to pop a pill. Like I said above, don't get me wrong, if my headaches are bad enough, and I mean bad enough to the point where my fingers can't even relax those tiny neck muscles that are causing me such excruciating pain, I will take some Aleve. But I also admit, this doesn't happen a lot.

I would say that I get headaches once a month, and it's mainly around my cycle. I blame it on hormones and the general stress and tension I always experience in my neck and shoulders. But I also get massaged once a month and I find that that form of therapy works better than a couple of pills. Want to know why? Because the effects of massage last longer. And they last a hell of a lot longer if you receive massage therapy on a consistent/regular basis. When you receive massage on a schedule (whether it's monthly, weekly, or every 6-8 weeks) your body will recognize what it's like to relax and will not need to tense up all of the time like it used to. And when a body isn't tensed up and stress, there will be no need for headaches . . . or pain anywhere for that matter.

So, I just wanted to throw that out there . . . again. Even though most of you know what I do, I don't think you realize I specialize in headache (and migraine) relief. The reason I specialize in it is because I know the pain and discomfort you're going through and I don't feel you need to suffer. I can absolutely relate, and I can absolutely tell you that massage works. You just have to experience it to really see. Seeing is believing, right?

I dare you to believe in this. I dare you to believe in what I do. I dare you to believe in me.

What is Your Health and State of Mind Worth to You?

Summer is Almost Here!

In less than a week, it will be the start of the Summer season! I'm excited for it, are you? I find that this time of year signals a whole lot of fun, joy, and feelings of being carefree. But aren't those things subjective? What you may feel is fun or happy, may not be the same for someone else. I have a daily Dalai Lama quote calendar that I read every morning upon waking up. And it prompted me to put the quote, "What you think about you create" up at the top of this email. Here is the Dalai Lama quote for todays' date:

"Our state of mind plays a major role in our day-to-day experiences as well as our physical and mental well-being.  If a person has a calm and stable mind, this influences his or her attitude and behavior in relation to others.  In other words, if someone remains in a peaceful and tranquil state of mind, external surroundings can cause them only a limited disturbance."

It's true, isn't it? Where our mind goes, energy flows. In other words, what we think about we create, and what we think about is true for ourselves. If we see something as a positive experience then it surely is, and the opposite applies as well. I find it difficult at times to always maintain a positive mindset. I'm human; we're human. Sometimes you just can't help shutting your mind off. But I plan on making this Summer a less stressful one. I want to feel carefree and abundant. I'm going to make sure I don't over analyze and think negatively too much, so that my outer experiences reflect my inner feelings. Will you try to do the same? Who's with me?

Changes Abound. Abundance Begins.

There has been an energetic shift going on for the past few months. And with Mercury currently in retrograde (it ends on June 11), things from the past have been coming to the forefront, as well as communication going haywire. The miscommunication is pretty typical of a Mercury retrograde, though. However, when people or situations from the past jump back into your life during a retrograde, it means that it's time to pause and reflect. And all of this is not a bad thing. Contrary, it's a blessing. It gives you the chance to look within and discover what it is you truly desire.

So, maybe an ex-boyfriend or girlfriend popped back in. That's okay. Let them. There are still aspects of the relationship that were never fulfilled or transformed. Sometimes a closure will take place, sometimes a new beginning between the two of you. Just go with the flow and allow whatever is going to happen, happen. Don't force anything, because you'll just be met with delays and frustration. This is your time to figure things out. And take all of the time you need.

June also marks a time of new beginnings, regardless if it's with someone from your past.  You're now looking at things from a different angle. People and situations are suddenly subdued and you're able to handle what comes your way a little differently. This was all supposed to happen this past year, and most especially within the past few months. A transformation, though quite subtle at times, was at hand and now you're about to see it all come to fruition. New people and opportunities are right at our doorstep, literally. There is this new sense of belonging and being around people who share similar ideas and beliefs. This time of year, especially for 2015, heralds a new beginning for your health. Because Summer is upon us, people tend to take a little more care of their bodies. What is no longer needed, physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually, will be removed so that all that you do need and want will enter your life.

Abundance comes in many forms: money, friends, family, love, opportunities, health issues and non-issues, time, etc. And that's what everyone is going to experience going forward. The brunt of it will be within the next 2-3 months, starting right now. And the blossoming of it all will take place later this Summer into the Fall (if you're in the northern hemisphere). So, allow whatever is going to happen to happen. The Universe provides for you everything you want and need. Be sure to be mindful of your thoughts. The more positive they are, the more positive you will see in your life. If you focus on what you don't want, that's all that you'll get. Just be open to your highest and best. These changes are a beautiful thing.
